An instrument pointed at weather
MONSUN is a storm observatory moored eleven kilometres off Tanjung Kling, in the deep channel of the Strait of Melaka. Crew of three. Season of one: the northeast monsoon, November through March, when the strait stands up and walks.
This page is the station's public instrument. Every raindrop you see is computed on your machine — a position, a fall speed, and a working relationship with your cursor. When lightning fires, the whole strait is relit by the same mathematics.
We publish what we measure. We measure what the sky does. The sky has been busy.
